How we write and review guides
The guides on this site are written by the RouteShot Editorial Team: the people who build RouteShot and work on capturing websites for MLR, compliance and legal review. This page explains where the information comes from, how it is checked, and what to do if you find a mistake.
Primary sources, cited inline
Every factual claim about a rule, a requirement or another company's product links to where it comes from, at the point it is made. We use the primary source wherever one exists:
- Regulations and agency guidance. FDA guidance documents and the Code of Federal Regulations for pharma promotion; SEC and FINRA rules for financial services; the Federal Rules of Evidence for legal capture; EDPB and FTC publications for consent and health data.
- Vendor documentation. When a guide describes another product, such as Veeva Web2PDF or Vault PromoMats, we cite that vendor's own help pages and reference guides, not third-party summaries.
Where a guide gives practical advice that no rule spells out, such as which captures a reviewer usually asks for, it says so plainly rather than presenting it as a requirement.
Dates on every guide
Each guide shows the date it was published. When we change its substance, we add an Updated date. When we re-check a guide's sources and product claims against the current rules and products and find it still accurate, we add a Reviewed date. We do not change dates for typo fixes or layout changes.
About RouteShot in the guides
RouteShot sells a capture product, and the guides say where it fits. We describe the manual method and other tools first and fairly, including where they are the better choice, and we keep what RouteShot does separate from what the rules require.
Not legal or regulatory advice
The guides explain how rules and tools work so you can prepare better submissions. They are not legal or regulatory advice. Your MLR reviewers, regulatory team and counsel have the final say on what your organization submits.
Corrections
If something in a guide is wrong or out of date, tell us through the contact page with the guide and the passage. We check it against the source and, if it needs to change, correct it and update the guide's date.
